A memorable cruise for so many reasons, particularly since we honoured a real friend of the Luciole ‘Judith’ who had cruised with us twice before. To Meursault we travelled, through the Chateau vineyards and cellars we wandered. We ate lunch in the town and marvelled at the grape pickers en-route to a visit to the Hospice de Beaune, a day to remember.
The week’s weather was glorious, blue sky days with Autumn colours creeping through. Burgundy does however, wait for rain, it has been a dry few months. So much so, the farmers are holding back on planting ‘colza’ and one wonders how many fields of the acid yellow flowers will be in bloom next spring.
Nicolas’s the Luciole’s talented chef created a stunning Sunday starter with candied beetroot and goat’s cheese. As ever gastronomy to marvel over that continued throughout the week.
